The mailing list: Join and win free stuff!

I announced it a while ago and here it is, this blog’s version of a mailing list. First of all, here’s what won’t happen:

• I’m not going to sell your email address, ever. Period. I LOATHE spammers.

• I’m not going to mail you fifty times a week. I simply don’t have the time for it and did I mention how much I hate spam?

Why should you join this list? Here are a few good reasons to do so:

• You can win free stuff. By being on this list, you automatically enter all current and future competitions. Couldn’t be easier. What can you win? Lots of things:
  • My stuff. To promote the new books and DVDs I bring out, I’ll include at least one copy as a competition prize. This starts right now with my new DVD set for a July 1st release. It’ll sell at $89.95, which is a pretty good deal for 6.5h of instructional material. So join the list now to get a chance at winning it.
  • Other people’s stuff: Paladin Press graciously allows me to offer my review copies as a prize in these competitions. That means prizes valued at anything from $20 to $200 and I’m giving them away for free. I’m working on getting more publishers involved so this can only get better.
  • Cool products. I’ve started contacting manufacturers of martial arts related products (gear, equipment, training weapons, etc) and am trying to set up prizes from their product lines.

• You get the latest info on promotions first. All time-sensitive information goes to the list members first. For instance, Paladin Press offered a sweet deal on my Heavy Bag training set for only a couple of days. List members get the scoop on that, before I post it to the blog. The same goes for all other promotions and sales specials at a bunch of publishers and martial arts businesses: as a list member you’ll be informed right away.

• You get deals and promotions. I’m working on partnerships with other blogs and businesses to offer you special deals and promotions on their products and services. This will take some time but it’ll be worth it. More about this here below.

There is no catch to this mailing list. It’s something I always wanted to do, ever since I started with my old review site over ten years ago. But I need some help from you: spread the word.

Publishers and manufacturers love giving away prizes or making special deals for blog members. It’s a great way to market and promote their products at negligible costs: an average advertising campaign costs hundreds if not a thousand times more than giving away just one of their products. It’s a no-brainer.

But they only do so when they know they’ll reach a big portion of their target audience; you and others like you who read this blog. The math is pretty simple: the more of you who read the blog, the more they reach potential customers, the more successful their promotion is.

That’s why I’d like to ask you to help me grow the audience of this blog. It takes only a minute and you benefit directly: the more visitors here, the easier I can get you those prizes and promotions. Marketing departments like numbers; the more visitors I can show them, the easier they’ll want to work with this blog.

Here’s how you can lend a hand:

• Mail this post to fellow martial artists, fighters or self defense enthusiasts. If they like what they see here, they’ll join the list and follow this blog. If they don’t, blame it on me and no harm done.

• Use the “Share this” button at the end of each post. That way you can send it to the different social media you are a part of (FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.)
• Add a link to this blog on your page. The more exposure, the better.

• Forward the past and future posts you find interesting to others. Everything I post here is free to read and view. So don’t hesitate to pass it along to those you think it might interest.
