RSS is not the Mailing List
ByI just answered a mail by one of my RSS subscribers, asking for the link to download my free E-book. He had apparently confused the RSS subscription via Feedburner with the mailing list. I took a look at the widget bar on the right and had a Homer Simpson (Doh! and slap your forehead) moment…
It’s my own fault for not making it clear enough so here goes:
- There are two different “subscriptions” for this blog, Feedburner and my mailing list.
- Feedburner does only one thing: it sends the RSS feed to you via email: whenever I post something on this blog, you get an update via e-mail. I offer this feature to you guys because it’s easy and convenient for you to follow this blog. But I don’t really check it all that much.
- The mailing list is something else. It’s all explained in detail right here. If you want the free E-book on the leg kick, that’s the one you have to join.
- Click the top widget on the right to go to the mailing list page and follow the “How to join” instructions there. Or you can click on the “mailing list” button right underneath my logo at the top of this page. One more way is to click the big-ass banner with Craig Gemeiner’s DVD on it, also right underneath my logo. All these options bring you to the right page to subscribe for the mailing list.
- If you joined recently and didn’t get the download link for the free E-book, then you’re probably using Feedburner and haven’t joined the mailing list. Just follow the instructions in the previous bullet to get it.
I tweaked the design of the widgets a bit to make the difference between RSS and the mailing list clearer. That should clear up the confusion.
In other news, I’m going to start my book review of “The Way of Kata” by Lawrence Kane and Kris Wilder tomorrow. I’ll re-read the book first and then get the review on line.
I’m also working on a post about the whole MMA/RBSD vs. traditional martial arts argument. In a funny case of serendipity, I talked to several people about it in the last week or so, both live and via mail, and ended up writing some stuff already. There’s already so much bullshit being spewed by both sides that my own nonsense won’t hurt either one of them, so why not post it here too? I’ll probably end up ranting a bit so bring a beer or some popcorn when you read it. :-)
.
Where it not for bullshit I would not have a blog.
