Angel of Death
ByI just saw “Angel of Death” with Zoe Bell, who’s the stunt woman in Kill Bill and a bunch of other movies and TV-series. The premise is this: a female assassin gets a brain injury (I’m not gonna say how, it’s a nice twist) and starts killing mobsters as a result.
In and of itself, a pretty thin plot and the acting isn’t Oscar-material either. It’s not bad, just not A-grade. But for this movie, it’s more than good enough. The main reason you should watch it is the action scenes. This is one of the few times I’ve seen an actress come off well in those. Zoe opens a big can of whup-ass throughout the many fight scenes and they’re always fun to watch. Though the final fight is a bit disappointing, the one in the bathroom is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time: I thoroughly enjoyed the moves, pacing and intensity of it.
So if you’re looking for a cool movie without much pretense but cool fight scenes, this one’s you’re ticket.
Here’s a short clip of Zoe doing her thing:

A lot of those clips in the YouTube video (if not all) are from the documentary Double Dare, about women in the stunt industry. Follows Zoe’s career as she segues from the close of Xena and tries to make a go of it in Hollywood, in part under the tutelage of veteran stuntwoman Jeannie Epps.

She of course was in Grindhouse as well, playing herself.
Cool Wim, I’ll check out netflicks. I’ve liked the stunt work in those movies.
