French President Sarkozy attacked by man in crowd.
ByThe French president, Mr. Sarkozy was visiting the city of Brax in France, to talk to a couple of mayors from that region. Afterwards, he goes outside to shake hands with the crowd before giving a speech. A guy in the crowd decides to attack him: he grabs the president by the shoulder while he tries to pull him in.
Here’s the video:
Some comments:
- Sarkozy is quick. He gets pulled off balance but reacts right after and pulls free while ducking a potential punch, knife or bullet. Nice.
- The outer layer of the secret service is also quick. Count the seconds from the time you see the hand grabbing Mr. Sarkozy and the part where you see the secret service officers controlling the attacker on the ground. In less than five seconds, they reacted to the attack, grabbed the guy, pulled him several feet away from Sarkozy and had him on the floor with four guys on top of him. That’s pretty quick too.
- Sarkozy keeps his cool. The man just goes on smiling and shaking hands as if nothing happened. You may not like him or his political agenda but he kept his calm in a situation where other presidents would be rushing to safety.
Maybe he had a talk with former President Bush about how to react fast like that?
Or maybe he had some special training like this here? :-)
P.S.: All “The French are cowards!” comments will be deleted right away. Calling an entire people (and therefor the military men, LEOs and other warriors in that country) cowards is disrespectful and shameful behavior no warrior should engage in.
.
Despite that is is verry sad that these situations happen.
It is interesting to see how people react under these suprise atacks.
Thanks for posting that Wim. It just proves that if you don’t waste time be “surprised” by an attack that you can use that time to react and protect your principle. Nice work by the concentric layers of their protective detail. I was most entertained by the camera work. Clearly the camera operator is on the clean side of the rope line, sees the attack and follows the attacker to the ground (under a BIG pile of muscle and guns) and then goes back to covering the rope line. Cool under pressure.

Have you seen another copy of the first video? This one seems to have been taken down.
Just fixed it, thanks for telling me.
