Predator teamwork, nature-style.
ByWe always go on and on about how human predators act that we sometimes forget the animal kingdom can teach us a few lessons on team-violence. Check out this video:
I saw this documentary a while ago and it’s one of the few times I was actually blown away. I’ve never seen animals team up like this before: organized teamwork at an incredible scale. If you know of any similar events in nature, I’d love to hear it.
What I found most amazing was the way the different hunters ignored each other and kept their focus on the greater good: keep up the teamwork and everybody gets food. Never seen anything like that before, at least not on that scale. Cool stuff.

really amazing video!
Wow – I’ve never seen that many species work together like that.
The only other videos that have amazed me were Seal Island in South Africa – Flying Great White sharks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihxNrU04xuQ&feature=related
Cool link John! I’d seen some pictures of this but not the video. It’s pretty damn impressive.

The Planet Earth series has a fun bit with African dogs doing some pretty well-coordinated pack hunting. As seen from the air, there’s very obvious team tactics involved, and apparently all pre-planned or non-verbally communicated.
Thanks Kevin, I’ll look for it. It’s pretty fascinating stuff when you look at how instinctively they seem to pull it off.
